Alief Taylor dismantle Eagles

Are’, Lions build first lead
and never look back

For the first time in both Aldine and Alief School history, the two have emerged in the same district. With the UIL policy of realigning schools every two years, they were forced into the same district 18-5A.
Led by quarterback Jordan Are’, the Alief Taylor Lions thumped the Eisenhower Eagles 52-27 in a game that didn’t live up to its billing Saturday night at Thorn Stadium.
With more than just bragging rights, the schools entering the night’s contest undefeated in district at (4-0). Something had to give and it did with the Lions scoring early and often.
Lions Coach, JD Jordan seemed happy with the way his team performed.
“It’s exciting for us, we knew it was going to be high octane on offense on both sides and that’s what it was” Jordan said. “Two undefeated teams left in district. Our kids played great offensive, defensive, special teams but we got two left before we can get that district championship.
Posting a win against an opponent such as the Eagles is a victory all in itself, when looking at the talent they possess on offense.
“We had a game plan and they have a strong offense. But their defense struggled a bit so we were able to puts some points on the board. (When asking about the speed and scoring TDs) We work at it to have that connection, though it’s not there all the time. We just keep working and working and gets better and better,” said Chaz Adams Receiver for Alief Taylor.
Are’ was responsible for four of the seven Lions scores including 233 of their 532 total yards. He finished 10-16-0 with 199 yards with three touchdowns and rushed for 34 yards on 6 carries and a score.
“We had two pretty good teams fighting for the number one spot, (district title). Alief Taylor is a good team. We made a lot of mistakes, they made plays and we didn’t. We’re both good teams but they came out on top, we didn’t. Our kids fought to the end, I’ll go to war with these kids any day anytime. We had more mental mistakes then anything. We as coaches got to correct it and next week be prepared to make it better. Alief was just a better team tonight,” said Eisenhower’s running back Coach White.
In the second half the Lions continued their offensive onslaught with their opening drive of the third quarter covering 54 yards in one play, capped off on Derrick Lair’s 54 yard run.
The Lions never trailed, leading 45-21 late in the third quarter before putting the finishing touches on the game.
James Jones 54 yard touchdown run pulled the Eagles as close as they would get 52-27.
Alief Taylor’s talent receiver Chaz Adams caught 5 passes to go along with 133 yards and three touchdowns. Lair led the rushing game with 152 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown while Treveon Taylor finished with 99 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns.
Jones led the Eagles going 7-16-1 for 155 yards while rushing for 96 yards on 17 carries and four touchdowns.
