Irving, Tx – Allen (13-1) stormed out to a 24-7 halftime lead and held on for a 34-21 victory to avenge an early season setback, 24-14, over previously unbeaten and No. 1 ranked Euless Trinity at Texas Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Eagles will meet Round Rock Stony Point next week in Waco at Floyd Casey Stadium and a chance to advance to the state finals.
The Eagles started at their 20 yard but got help from the Trojans again when they were penalized for two dead ball fouls on the same play. That move the ball down inside the Trojans territory at the 41 yard line. Allen drove down field under the rushing attack of Jeremy Williams. (this should go at the top) From the 20 yard line back up quarterback Tucker Carter hit Dakarai Pecikonis for the touchdown to take back a 17 point lead at 24-7.
Allen scored on four of its first five drives all in the first half.  The Eagles took the opening drive and marched 73 yard to pay dirt. Receiver Marcus Thomas 13-yard touchdown reception capped the possession.
Trinity, the nations No. 1 ranked team according to USA Today and Rivals struggled to find its footing. On its first drive, the Trojans pick up minimal yardage before linebacker Cheyenne Urban picked off Trojans quarterback Denarius McGhee and return it to the Trinity’s 42 yard line.
Allen impatiently gather itself on offense by adding to the lead on the strength on Isaac Arellano 22-yard field goal. That pushed the score, 10-0 with 2:38 left in the first quarter.
It was a tail of two different game faces. Allen who was completely on point and almost error free the whole game and Trinity who couldn’t seem to settle down most of the night.
The Eagles were facing Trinity (13-1) for the second time this season after losing the first game 24-14, came out with a game plan that held true to form.
If it wasnbt turnovers or bad special teams play for the Trojans, it was penalties. On their next possession Bobby Brown return the kick off for a touchdown. But it was brought back for holding. This drive started at their own 12 yard line. The Trojans were three and out.
On the ensuing punt Uzoma Nwachukwu of Allen went 55 yards for the touchdown giving the Eagles a 17 point lead still 11 seconds left in the first quarter.
The Trojans settled down on their next possession driving 64 yards for their first score of the game. Denarius McGhee called his own number around the right end for the 5 yard touchdown carry to complete the drive. Putting the Trojans on the board with the score 17-7.
Right after, Allen shot them selves in the foot when Jeremy Reeves went coast to coast for a 100 yard kick off return but that would be erased for blocking in the back.
With 3:12 left in the first half Trinity gets a good kickoff return from Cole Baker down to the Allen 26 yard line. After Alex Jones catch, down at the 4 yard line. The Trojans would hurt them selves again with their third dead ball penalty moving the ball back to the Allen 20 yard line. The Eagles defense held and on forth down Steven Terrell blocked the field goal try leaving the Trojans empty heading into halftime.
At the beginning of the third quarter Trinity started at their 36 yard line. Tevin Williams was stopped for no gain by Cheyenne Urban. McGhee was intercepted by Jeremy Reeves down at the Allen 26 yard line.
With Allen in possession of the ball Jeremiah Williams went up the middle for a 14 yard gain. Jeremiah was a nightmare for the Trojans defense chewing up yards nearly every time he touched the ball. The eagles used a balance offense to get into field goal range. Where Cody Phillips connected on a 36 yard field goal to increase the lead to 20 with the score 27-7.
Trinity would get their second touchdown and draw within 13 points after denarius McGhee hooked up with Christian Brown for a 5 yard touchdown reception, with 57 seconds to go in the third quarter. New score 27-14.
But the Eagles would not stopped their rampage getting a strong push from their offensive line and using Jeremiah Williams services to put them back in the in zone to up the lead to 34-14. This time Williams would go in from the one yard line. Putting any thoughts of a comeback on hold.
