The Bellaire Cardinals got a star studded performance from pitcher Kyle Chaskin and
good solid defense behind him. Chaskin only a sophomore, went the distance striking
out 11 wolves and stunning The Westside Wolves with a 2-0 shut out in game two of the
bbest of threeb series at Ray Knoblauch Field. This win also marks the first cardinal win
over the wolves this season. He was able to keep Westside batters off balance mixing
his pitches, changing speeds, using his fast ball and slider. bI felt pretty good when he
(Coach Rocky Manuel) called my name, I knew I could do a good job and I didb said Kyle
Chaskin.
Bellaire defense played a near perfect game. In the third inning Chaskin gave up a walk
to Garrett Shaw but later got out of the inning when Matt Clayton attempted a sac bunt
that sail to the third baseman for the put out to help end the inning. Other defensive plays
were when The Wolves Michael Goodnight lined a shot that look like it would get through
near second was caught by the second baseman in the forth, Freddy Villalobos
scorched a ground ball between second and third. Bellairebs short stop Alex Silver turn in
a highlight reel turning to his right, running, gloving the ball and firing over to first to
complete the play. Higgins made a great play in center field turning on the jets to catch a
ball that had base hit written all over it.
In the bottom of the forth is when the cardinal found some light. Chaskin led off with a
single to right field, then replaced by pinch runner Aaron Hafer who stole second, Will
McCaleb singled in Hafer for the first and only run the cardinals would need. Later
