Cinco Ranch Downs Mayde Creek

Katy – After knocking off two weeks of rust, Cinco Ranch jolted Mayde Creek 42-14
at Rhodes Stadium. It counts as a non-district game even though both schools are
from the same district. But will likely face each other again in district play.
Because of so many cancelations resulting from damages caused by Hurricane Ike.
The two schools were forced to cancel there dates with pre-scheduled opponents.
Hirtz and Ross proved to be more than enough fire power. Ross got things going
finding Hirtz for a 22 yard touchdown pass. Hirtz also scored two more times on runs
of 1 and 21 yards.
After both teams traded turnovers with 9:19 to go in the second quarter. The
Cougars put the game out of reach for good when Conner Key recovered a fumble
in the end zone to make the score 21-0. Ross also hit Mack streaking across the
field for a 51 yard touchdown pass to take a commanding 35-7 halftime lead.
bWell we just werenbt as physical as they were tonight and it showed.b bThere a
tremendous ball club, I give all the respect to Cinco Ranch, Coach Clayton and his
staff.b They did a great job and had a great game plan.b bThere kids played their
tails offb bWe didnbt compete the way we wanted to compete tonight, said Coach
Carter.
Mayde Creek two touchdowns came on an 85 yard pass from Vaughn Miller to
Sheriff Thomas and a 10 yard run by Devown hines.
bWell it didnbt matter who the opponent was tonight, we prepared two weeks ago or
last week for Cy Ridge thinking that would be a big ball game and unfortunately the
circum stances didnbt let it happen.b bSo when we came back out Tuesday we had
the attitude webre going to keep thinks rolling and practice hard to do what we need
to do to take care of business.b bThe kids wanted to play and get back to normal,
said Coach Clayton.
