Nothing changed in the top four teams. Top-ranked Georgia competed in the closest game of the top four teams, getting past Vanderbilt 37-20 after trailing 7-0 early in the contest. No. 2 Michigan crushed Minnesota, 52-10, No. 3 Ohio State thumped Perdue, 41-7, and No. 4 Florida State thrashed Syracuse 41-3, making it another day at the office.
No. 7 Washington, now No. 5, had its hands full with then No. 9 Oregon, who moved up to No. 8 in the polls. The Huskies escaped with a 36-33 victory. The Ducks missed a game-tying field goal as time expired.
No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 8 Texas had a bye week and will resume next week when the two teams meet UFC and Houston respectfully. No. 7 Penn State will have its opportunity next week when it travels to Ohio Stadium to square off against Big Ten rival No. 3 Ohio State.
No. 9 Oregon and No. 10 Alabama round out the top ten. The Tide stayed afloat, edging the Razorbacks 24-21.
One of the most significant wins watched No. 13 Notre Dame derail unbeaten then No. 10 USC, 48-20.
