Cold shooting night buries Cougars
Kavin Gilder-Tillbury scored a game high 17 points to lead Cy-Falls pass Cy-Creek 54-40 Friday night at Cy-Creek High School. With the win the Golden Eagles kept their record spotless in what looks to be a tough district
Cy-Falls (15-9, 4-0) entered the second quarter with a 13-6 lead as they were in control the whole way. Gilder-Tillbury and Joe Westerman converted layups increasing deficit, 17-6.
The Cougars (8-14, 1-2) couldn’t find much offense, more less an answer for the Golden Eagles who built a 17 point lead heading to intermission up 29-12.
Cy-Falls continued their onslaught in the third quarter as Mitchell Badillo nailed a trey to open the quarter. The Cougars were held to only 9 points during the third quarter while Cy-Falls went up by as many as 28 points.
“I thought we came out early a little sluggish in the beginning but then we picked up,” said Cy-Falls Coach Draught. We played pretty good we moved the ball, we got some good looks, we made baskets. I thought on the defensive end we kept the ball out of Munoz’s hands.
Badillo finished his night with 10 points.
The loss was not for a lack of effort as the Cougars showed more hustle in the fourth quarter trimming the lead down to a respectable 14 points.
“I told the guys coming in we’ve got talent, we’re a little inexperienced, we only have one guy that was in the mix last year but we have to start doing thinks the right way. We had a couple of break downs on defense and that gave them a cushion and made it hard for us to catch up,” said Ron Thomson Cy-Creek’s Coach.
Cy-Falls will attempt to remain undefeated when they host Cy-Springs next Tuesday.
