Westfield outlast Cy-Falls

Westfield used an arsenal of offensive weapons to put away Cy falls 42- 21Thursday night at George Stadium. With 11:15 left in the second quarter Jacob Walker hit Adam Watson for a eight yard touch down strike.
Westfield kept the eagles off balance all evening mixing the pass with the run. The offensive line was busy opening up running lanes while Walker kept the air waves on high alert.
“We were clicking on all cylinders on offense in the first half, defensively we slowed them down,” said Coach Meekins.
The mustangs wasted little time getting things started early and often. Walker found Jabmes Logan eighteen yards out for the first score of the game. But the lead didnbt last long as Cy Falls countered on their initial drive. Cy Falls move the ball down field much like Westfield with a balanced attack but most of it coming on the strength of Gray’s scrambling. Kolby Gray went in from four yards out to knot the score at seven. But That wouldnbt be enough as the mustangs struck four more times before halftime to take an 35-7 lead into the locker room.
“Well I thought that the kids came out ready to play. “We did a great job, I think we couldb I’ve done any better,” said Coach Meekins.
The first drive of the third quarter, Cy Falls took advantage of Westfieldbs defense and worked their way down field with short passes and running plays. Although Gray was hurt when he was knock out of bounds by a mustang defender at the Westfield ten yard line. He was replaced by the backup quarterback for one play but returned and went in from the two yard line to make the score 35-14.
“We wanted to get off to a fast start in the second half and really keep the momentum going but obviously we didnbt do that,” said Coach Meekins said.
Cy Falls didnbt help their cause much after stopping the mustangs twice on downs but giving up two back to back personal fouls, roughing the kicker. That prove to be a momentum builder for the mustangs.
Westfield summed up their scoring when Walker fired a beautiful thirty six yard strike to Jabmes Logan who had just broke the end zone plain.
Cy Fall’s last score came when Christian Norris sliced through the line of scrimmage, broke a few tackles and out ran the defense for a fifty six yard touch down.
