Daniel Mengden singled home a run from third in the bottom of the 8th inning to cap a comeback
win over Memorial. Mengden hit a walk off homer in the first round of the playoffs in game one of
the Cy Fair series. He has been a clutch player for the wolves.
Westside also got a stellar pitching performance from Taylor Walls a Rice recruit. Walls showed
how dominating he is by striking out 12 batters in the win. There were times when the mustangs
would get something going but Walls was able to get out of the inning giving up only a walk or a
base hit.
Memorial jumped out to a 2-0 early lead and held until the bottom of the 8th inning when things fell
apart. Matt Clayton walk to base, Walls beat out a sac bunt to first. Michael Goodnight set the
stage when he laid down a beautiful sac bunt that pushed runners to second and third. Memorial
gave Brett Zieren the next batter an intentional walk to load the bases. Thatbs when Mengden
provided the game cap.
