Louisiana powers impressive in showcase

In a year where Louisiana football is near its peak, C. E. Bryd, Parkway and West Monroe high school all came away with wins over East Texas powers. Including Gladewater, Longview and Lufkin in the 2015 Landers Dodge Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase hosted by the City of Shreveport, La. at Independence Stadium.
This was made possible when the City of Shreveport partnered with Landers Dodge to bring one of the top high school football showcases in the country.
The fifth annual showcase featured some of the nation’s top teams from five different states which included Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
Over a three day period, seven games played. On Thursday, September 10, El Dorado HS (El Dorado, AR) vs. St. Thomas More HS (Lafayette, LA) kicked off the battle with Moore thumping El Dorado 44-14.
Friday’s evening doubleheader watched John Curtis (River Ridge, La) coast past Shades Valley (Birmingham, AL) 38-13, and West Monroe downed Lufkin in a night cap thriller, 44-36.
Gladewater opened a four-game set Saturday morning. Parkway (Bossier City, La) defeated the Bears, 47-27.
In the second game of the day, Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport, La,) won the battle of head-to-head Louisiana teams, getting by Warren Easton (New Orleans) 21-6.
Neville (Monroe, La) mauled Maumelle (Maumelle, AR) 59-0, and Byrd closed the evening, handing Longview its first loss of the season by coming away with a late 22-15 victory.
With Louisiana’s impressive showing, going 4-0 against four surrounding states, the fans of the bayou state have plenty to brag about.
