Defending National and back to back state champion, Yates will host national power (Las Vegas Nevada)Findlay College Prep Pilots on December 16th at the campus of Texas Southern. The Game was originally set for last season, before the start of the playoffs but an injury to one of Findlay’s top players canceled the game. Before this game, local fans will have a chance to see the Yates/Wheatley Game set to be played on December 1 at Delmar Field House.
The Pilots will feature a team that has five players that are 6’6” to 6’9” and four of them are underclassmen. Starting with 6’9 Jr. Center Landen Lucas, and Forwards, 6’8” Jr. Anthony Bennett, 6’8” Jr. Winston Shepard who is ranked No. 60 in the class of 2012 according to Maxpreps and 6’8” Sophomore Benas Griciunas. In addition, Coach Peak will be expecting big things from Arizona-bound Guard Nick Johnson, Texas-bound Myck Kabongo and wing Amir Garrett who is uncommitted.
Findlay’s Coach Michael Peak has a stellar resume that’s second to none in leading the Pilots with a (97-3) record, 34-0 at home and 63-3 away in three seasons at the school and has won back to back ESPN Rise NHSI Championships. Two summers ago Peak coached Team USA at Nike Global Challenge and the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp.
