First time in playoffs, Cy-Ranch is headed to Round Rock

Bears look to make its second trip to Dell Diamond count

 
The Montgomery Bears (29-13) are making its second trip to Round Rock.  Its first appearance in 2005 ended in a semifinals loss, 15-5 to Waco Midway. 
The Bears are led by a hot hitting junior class, including (2B) Carter Yancey (.500), catcher Cody Conn (.403), (3B) Will Fox (.389), (pitcher/1B) Ty Boland (.369), (OF) J.T. Gorski (.354) and (SS) Garrett Hrozek (.349).
Strong pitching comes from ace Boland (11-3) and senior Chad Hayes (9-2).
Two ingredients for Montgomery’s success, is defense and pitching.
Montgomery will face No. 1 seed Rockwall Heath (34-9) in the Class 4A Semifinals, 4:00 p.m., Thursday at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock.  In the other semifinal, No. 2 seed Austin Lake Travis (32-10) will meet Cleburne (29-10) at 7:00 p.m., also at Dell Diamond.
 
 
For the first time in the school’s four year history, the Cy-Ranch Mustangs will attempt to continue its undefeated post-season march in the Class 5A State Semifinals, when it meets Arlington Martin, Friday at Dell Diamond Stadium.  Cy-Ranch had never made the playoffs before this season.  
The Mustangs swept its way through the first five rounds of the playoffs with a spotless (10-0) record.
