DeSoto – The Everglades in Florida is the place where some of the most respected NFL players hail from. Glades Central High School is well known for producing NFL players. I’m sure you’ve heard or maybe not, about the speed, skill and talent of the Floridian players. These are the qualities the NFL like so much about the players.
Saturday afternoon National Power Glades Central Raiders (2-0) rolled pass Denison Yellow Jackets 53-17 at Eagle Stadium in the second game of four played in the Florida vs. Texas High School Football Showcase.
Hoping to catch the Raiders off guard, Denison fail on an opening onside kick that resulted in great field position for Glades Central at their 48 yard line. The offense erases the near turnover on first down with a second down strike to Devonte Allen down to the 11 yard line. Next play Yuesner Ferniad took the handoff left for the 11 yard score.
“It was real lovely, flying over I saw like 100 football fields. We played a good team but we came out here to do what we had to do. We have players all over the country playing division I football,” said Glades Central’s Receiver Kevin Benjamin.
Two dropped passes, a sack and fumbled punt hurt the Yellow Jackets though they regain possession a few plays later on Hayden Chapman’s interception but without a doubt this day was for the Raiders.
Denison (0-3) could get on track with spread and run offense.
“We’re real young and it’s a great opportunity. Our team played hard. Just like any young team we made too many mistakes in crucial situations. You can’t do that against programs like this. There a good program and a national power. We have a lot of respect for them. They came out and delivered,” said Coach Mc Fadden Denison’s Defensive Coordinator.
It was the second win over a Texas team. The Raiders open the season with a 6-0 win over Dallas Skyline.
“It was a wonderful experience for the kids get out and play kids from across the country. To experience this type of atmosphere is fantastic. They gain a lot from this and hopefully we’re move forward we’ll be to benefit from it. The Glades area is not big we don’t have a lot going on there but football so kids love and they dedicate their selves to it,” said Glades Central Coach Jessie Hester.
