Klein Collins defeated Spring Westfield 49-44 in the Class 6A area round on Friday at Oak Ridge High School.
With the win, Klein Collins will face Conroe, who edged Cypress Springs, 44-43 next week.
The Klein Collins Tigers (27-6) trailed Spring Westfield Mustangs 25-19 at the half. At pivotal moments during the third quarter, the Lady Tigers drained four treys to level the game at 36 before ending the quarter.
However, Westfield (21-7) opened the fourth quarter with a 5-0 run. Yet, the Tigers’ defense and fundamentals proved challenging as it capitalized by blocking shots, swiping the defensive and offensive boards while forcing several turnovers.
Klein Collins pressured the ball and the passing lanes, which helped preserve the victory down the stretch.
A considerable part of Klein Collins’ success weighed on a 30-19 second half edge.
