Hield scores 37 to lead Oklahoma
Many fans were blindsided by Villanova’s upset win over number 1 overall seed Kansas. Kris Jenkins and Jalen Brunson drained four free throws with less than 14 seconds left to help end the Jayhawks’ season 64-59.
Oklahoma surprised No. 1 seed Oregon. However, Sooners’ shooting guard Buddy Hield is well known for his ability on the court. Hield scored 37 points to lead the Sooners to the final four, 80-68 where it will meet Villanova next Saturday in Houston.
The loss brought an end to the Duck’s 11-game winning streak.
Just when Syracuse seemed done, the Orange erased a 16-point deficit to punch it’s ticket to Houston by ousting No 1 seed Virginia 68-62 on Sunday
The Orange becomes the first 10th seed to advance to the final four. It will face conference foe North Carolina on Saturday.
The Cavaliers who finished it’s season (29-8) beat Syracuse 73-65 on January 24th.
Syracuse scored 15 points in a row which was part of its 25-point outburst. While trailing 54-39, Virginia managed only four points during that span.
North Carolina shook off a pesky Irish team, 88-74 to gain a berth in the final four. The Tar Heels shot 64 percent in the first half compared to Notre Dame’s 58.3.
