Seven teams battling for four playoff spots in district 17-5A

Cy-Falls and Langham Creek stand atop the competitive Cy-Fair district at (6-1)

In district 17-5A no competition would be a surprise, but since the squeaky tight district always has an abundance of competitors, athletes and great coaches, a fierce battle wouldn’t be unusual.
From top to bottom, Cy-Fair schools makeup one of the most balanced district in the Houston area and perhaps the state. Only one school resides outside the Cy-Fair school district (Jersey Village) but competes in the same conference with all nine Cy-Fairs schools
With two weeks remaining in regular season, seven schools are battling for four playoff spots in district 17-5A. Cy-Falls and Langham sit atop, with matching (6-1) conference records followed by Cy-Ranch (5-2), Cy-Fair (4-3), Cy-Creek and Cy-Ridge are (3-3) and Cy-Woods (4-3).
Langham Creek, who has its only district loss coming at the hands of Cy-Ranch, in a 64-63 shootout, will face Cy-Ridge and Lakes to close out the season with a chance to take home the district title. Cy-Falls (7-1) got its only loss of the season, a 37-35 decision to Langham Creek, will be faced a stiffer test in Cy-Fair and Ranch.
Winning out would be a must for the following five contenders and aid from other teams will help to straighten this log-jam.
