Splendora’s 4×400 Meter Relay Team put fourth an huge effort at the Class 3A Region III Track & Field Finals Tuesday evening at Turner Stadium in Humble, Texas.
The Wildcats were headed for a second place finish until upstart James Dotson who took the baton on the forth and final leg. Dotson turned on the after burners after trailing Bellville’s Cal Wood who was out in front by more than 20 meters heading down the home stretch. Dotson started his kick right before the last curve with an all out sprint to pass Wood for the gold.
“It’s just determination, you see someone in front of you. We wanted it, so we went and got it,” said Dotson.
