Week three of the high school football playoffs forges several exciting matchups. Starting with five undefeated teams, which will put its hopes on the line as it attempts to advance to the quarterfinals. The matches include Class 4A Division II Region III Carthage (12-0) vs. China Spring (12-0), Class 3A Division I Region I Tuscola Jim Ned (12-0) vs. Brock (12-0), Class 2A Division I Region I Hawley (12-0) vs. Coleman (11-0) and Class 2A Division II Region II Muenster (12-0) vs. Albany (12-0).

Other must-see action to keep in mind pits, Stephenville (12-0) vs. Argyle (11-1), Van (12-0) vs. Gilmer (11-1), and Manvel (10-2) vs. Fort Bend Hightower (10-2).

Class 6A Division I Region II contest could see its share of fireworks when the Springs schools face a pair of Dallas area perennial powers in No. 4 Duncanville and No. 10 DeSoto which hale from the same District 11-6A. Duncanville, who has not lost to a Texas school this season, won the district title, as DeSoto finished second. The same applies to No. 6 Westfield and No.16 Spring, who compete in District 14-6A.

Last season Duncanville handed Westfield an embarrassing 56-0 defeat in the Class 6A Regional Semifinals while Spring fell to DeSoto, 27-21 also in the Class 6A Regional Semifinals.

In Class 6A Division II Region III, No. 5 Katy could see its stiffest test of the season when it meets No. 17 C.E. King, who attacks with a disruptive defensive line and relies on the legs of running backs D’Koreion Hammond and Jerrell Wimbley to shoulder its offense. The Tigers counter with a ball-hawking defense and sensational junior tailback Seth Davis, who has been a thorn in opponents’ side for the last two seasons.
