Manvel will rely heavily on its talent, speed and experience as it seeks out elusive 6A title

Turned away two years straight by the Katy Tigers, Manvel won’t only subject how many recruiters will visit its campus this season, but more importantly, how it can play its way into the 6A Finals.
Here is a look at the Ossports Greater Houston Area high school football rankings.  The top ranked 6A team may come as a surprise. Manvel edged out last year’s state finalist Katy for the top spot.  Both returned a load of talent. But it was even harder to turn a blind eye on the Class 6A state track and field champions Manvel, who have one of the most talented rosters in all the land.
If the Mavericks can avoid the injury bug and get past the Tigers, they could be eying a possible state title.  Katy, on the other hand, are seeking its eighth title after a two-year disappointment in the state finals.  Defense will be the Tigers benchmark.
Crosby and Stratford hold the top two spots in the 5A polls.  The Cougars will once again battle for a championship after falling in the 5A State Semifinals at the hands of Cedar Park 49-21 last season.
Navasota returns its top two players in quarterback Shelton Eppler, who holds the national touchdown record with 71 and last season’s 5A State Championship MVP receiver Tren’Davian Dickson.
The Ratters completed last season by finishing 16-0 and the winning the 4A Division I title in thrilling fashion, downing Argyle 42-35 in double overtime.
