Texans’ even its record at 2-2 after a 57-14 lopsided victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon at NRG stadium.
57 points mark the most points scored in Texans franchise history. In 2014, Houston scored 45 points against the Titans.
With a different makeover from what fans witnessed last season, the Texans have found a team leader in rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson brings in a dual-threat edge which keep defenders on its heels and gives Texans Fans something to cheer about. Defenders are quickly noticing Watson’s pocket presence with his well-known scrambling ability.
He had a hand in five touchdowns. Four passing and one rushing. It’s the most by a rookie since Fran Tarkenton in 1961. His efforts also tied an NFL record for most touchdowns by a rookie.
Addition help on offense came from Hopkins, who finished with 10 catches, resulting in 107 yards receiving. Hopkins was able to avoid double coverage due to the return of receiver Will Fuller who broke his collarbone in training camp.
Houston’s defense ensured the Titans would not light up the score, forcing five turnovers on the evening. Four of the turnovers were interceptions. Jadeveon Clowney sacked backup quarterback Cassel who filled in for injured Mariota (Hamstring) while forcing a fumble recovered by Houston.
The Texans will host the undefeated Chiefs on Sunday.
