Houston – Area top baseball teams are heating up. With the second half of district on the way, many teams are looking for good defense, solid pitching and clutch hitting. Some districts have multiple teams that are solid from top to bottom. Such tight districts races in 5A are 15-5A 23-5A and in 4A are 18-4A, 21-4A and 23-4A. Many of the usual playoff powers are in or are hopefuls of a spot. Alvin, Bellaire, Bmt. Westbrook, Deer Park, Dobie, Elkins, Katy, Katy Taylor, Kingwood, La Porte, Spring Woods and in 4A Barbers Hill, Brenham, Friendswood, Lamar Cons. and Santa Fe. At the moment nobody appears to be a clear favorite to win the region in either class. With the playoffs being less than a week away, most teams appear to be playing there best baseball. Will have to see who emerges. Cy-fair, the state champion last year got on roll late last year and it paid off with a state title. The Houston area is always loaded with top baseball competition and talent. Making it tough for anyone to walk through the region untested.o;?
