Death Valley is an annual hotbed for NFL talent. Yearly, the Tigers of Louisiana State University field some of the top prospects in college football. This season is on schedule to duplicate its history.

The Tigers finished 10-4 and 6-3 in the SEC last season. Still, LSU flirted with an opportunity to play for a national title.

Though it may have been a rebuilding year, last season had its share of his and lows. LSU dropped a decision to Texas A&M, 38-23, and Tennessee, 40-13. The Tigers lost to the Seminoles in the opener, 24-23. Yet, it knocked off Alabama 32-31 to win the SEC West and fell to Georgia 50-30 in the SEC Championship game.

Credit second-year coach Brian Kelly for preparing LSU. Now a year of growth, with the addition of incoming recruits, the Tigers seek the perfect ambush. However, it will be challenging after displaying last year’s potential.

Aside from the talent, the No. 5 ranked Tigers will claw for a national title. But the road is bumpy. It jumps into the fire when it travels to meet No. 8 Florida State in the season’s opener.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels will lead the offense, and outside of tackle Will Campbell and receiver Malik Nabers, the defense will counter with sophomore defensive tackle Mason Smith, junior linebacker Harold Perkins, senior linebacker Omar Speights, junior cornerback Zy Alexander, junior safety Duce Chestnut, senior linebacker Ovie Oghoufo, and junior defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo. Transfer linebacker Omar Speights will add support.

Its November 4th meeting in Alabama could decide who plays for the SEC championship and possibly a spot in the College final four.
