Down 16-4 in the first half, the Lady Mavericks battled back in the second half with Turner

The No. 2 ranked Manvel Lady Mavericks did the improbable Saturday night at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin; rallying to take out unbeaten and top ranked Duncanville 58-53 in the 5A Champion game.
The victory halts Duncanville’s 105 winning streak and brings home the first state title for the Mavericks (37-2)
Center Brianna Turner grabbed the MVP Honors with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
Not many teams can lay claim against pasted unbeaten Duncanville teams.
The two faced off early this season in the McDonald’s Texas Invitational in November where Manvel held a 15 point lead against the Pantheretts but later squandered the lead.
 

Class 5A Boys Basketball Region II Final

The dream of an all Houston final was dashed when Atascocta fell 65-58 to Allen, known more for it’s football, in the 5A Region II Final on Saturday in Waco.
The Eagles finished its best season in school history, penetrating to the regional finals for the first time in school history.
6’11” Center Zack Haney scored 18 points and 11 rebounds but star forward Joe Burton was held to four points
 
 
 

Class 4A Region III Champion Game

Forward E’Torrian Wildridge scored 22 points in Beaumont Central’s 67-57 win over Fort Bend Marshall in the 4A Region III Title game.
The Jaguars (31-4) play Thursday at the Frank Erwin Center.  Opponent to be announced.
 
 

Class 3A Region III Final

Yates stamps its ticket for Austin with a 103-86 defeat of Navasota in the Class 3A Region III Championship game on Saturday at the Johnson Coliseum.
MVP Damion Lewis poured in 25 points for the Lions (21-8)
The Rattlers (27-4) got 24 points from Jebrell Lipscomb while enjoying its deepest run in the playoffs since winning the 1990 title.
